TANKER
Isn't it funny how stopping for gas becomes the perfect excuse to use the restroom on long road trips? Well, times are changing, and with the ever-fluctuating price of gas, consumers have found themselves looking for better resources and prices for saving money.
We heard your cries and went on the hunt. Would it surprise you to learn that the reasonable solution to the gas crunch is more fuel? The idea has a lot of merit when you consider that the gas capacity for going off-road will get you places and back again that would otherwise require spare fuel to be carried. So by installing a larger-capacity fuel tank in your rig, the trips to the gas station are fewer, and you can get deeper into the wilderness, not to mention taking advantage of lower fuel prices when the opportunity presents itself.
Considering that most aftermar-ket fuel tanks are often of a higher capacity than the stock tanks they replace, we were curious to see how one would fit in with factory components. We turned to Transfer Flow of Chico, California, as the company is known for its aftermarket fuel tank systems. We enlisted the help of Transfer Flow and Super Duty Headquarters in Gilbert, Arizona, to show us just how such an installation is handled. In about four hours, we had ourselves a legal 45-gallon gas tank that operated with our OEM fuel system. Read along and see how the process went start to finish. It is recommended that either an authorized dealer or Transfer Flow do the installation for safety and warranty reasons. 4x4 Builder
